3D Cell Culture Plates are also useful in tissue engineering research

Polydimethylsiloxane Cell Culture Plate
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is an optically clear, non-toxic, and non-inflammable plastic. It is used as a base frame in cell culture experiments. For mass production, the material was chosen because of its low density and corrosion-resistance property. Moreover, it has no chemical reaction with PDMS. For this reason, the plate was developed in a concave shape, which is similar to the hanging-drop method.
The plate is a useful tool for measuring viral replication. PBMCs were cultured in the cell culture plate at a density of 1x107 cells per well for seven days. Afterwards, cells were harvested and counted using a Thoma haemocytometer and Trypan Blue staining. The data were analyzed using repeated measures two-way ANOVA.
MS(r) Cell and Tissue Culture Plates are manufactured with non-treated surfaces and are available in 6,12,24, and 96-well formats. The plates are stored at 37 degC with 5% CO2 in the air. When the cells are cultured for a certain period of time, they need to be harvested at least 24 hours later.
Tissue culture plates can be used in a variety of applications. They are optically clear, and are available in round, flat, and v-shaped bottom styles. Each style supports specific surface modifications for attachment and suspension of cell culture media. They can be used for anchorage-dependent mammalian cells.
3D Cell Culture Plates are also useful in tissue engineering research. The plates allow cells to grow in any direction and in three dimensions. Current methods of producing 3D culture plates are labor-intensive and costly. Polydimethylsiloxane-based 3D cell culture plates are a cheaper and simpler way to make them.
Surface-treated well-plates have improved cell adhesion, but their effects were not statistically significant. Using a non-treated culture plate may provide a better metabolic environment for long-term studies. These results are promising and warrant further investigation. These studies suggest that a non-treated Cell Culture Plate is a better choice when it comes to long-term studies.
The emergence of 3D scaffolds based on biopolymers is a promising way to develop regenerative medicine. However, consistent and uniform cell seeding are key challenges for 3D scaffolds. Traditionally, 3D scaffolds are cultured in tissue culture plates. These plates facilitate reproducible seeding and culture media changes.
